Lawrence Rudolph, MD Named Winner of 51st Annual Award

Lawrence Rudolph is the 2007 recipient of the Weatherby Hunting and Conservation Award for his outstanding sportsmanship and achievement in the hunting fields of the world, and his accomplishments in game conservation and youth education.

Larry Rudolph was born 52 years ago in Irwin, Pennsylvania. Growing up in southwestern Pennsylvania, where it is a tradition for children to hunt for small game and white-tailed deer, he has been hunting since he was a small boy. He took his first big game hunt when he was eighteen, driving to Colorado with a friend to hunt mule deer with a bow.

In 1986 Larry joined Safari Club International and his interest in hunting really grew. It was also then that he began traveling to exotic locations and hunting in earnest. His family has joined him on many of his hunts to Africa, Argentina and England.

Rudolph has been very fortunate in his hunting career. He has taken 102 big-game hunts to thirty-six countries on six continents. To date he has collected 243 species, and has an extensive mountain-game collection which consists of 47 species.

Over the years he has been active in Safari Club International, starting with the Pittsburgh Chapter in 1986, and now serves on the Executive Committee of SCI as its vice president. He also serves the Conklin Foundation as a founding member.

Congratulations on our 51 st Anniversary to the recipient of the 2007 Weatherby tlunting and Conservation Award, Larry Rudolph.
