The Outdoor Expo Campaign
Outdoor Exposition Planning Guide

Weatherby Foundation International has become a leader in fostering the development of educational outdoor expositions (“Outdoor Expos”) throughout North America.

Beginning in the late 1990s Foundation Directors were attracted to pioneering Outdoor Expos sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Wyoming Fish and Game Department. Their investigation showed these hands-on educational events, focused primarily on families and youth, were closely aligned with the Foundation’s mission.

Following this, a decision was made to begin promoting the concept nationwide and an on-going Outdoor Exposition Campaign has evolved with activities which include:

  • Underwriting the development and distribution of an Outdoor Exposition Planning Guide.
  • Providing start-up development grants to qualified states and organizations and yearly grants to help sustain established Expos.
  • The hiring of Dave Lockman as project leader for the campaign. Before retiring at the end of 2002, Lockman was coordinator of the Wyoming Hunting and Fishing Heritage Expo.
  • Providing videos, group presentations and other materials to explain and facilitate Expo development.

The Foundation welcomes your interest in Outdoor Expos. More information is available by clicking on Outdoor Exposition Campaign and/or contacting:

“Give Guns To Help Hunting”

Initiated in 2002, Weatherby Foundation International’s “Give Guns to Help Hunting” program, has already benefited the Foundation by almost $50,000.

Guns donated to the program will be used by the Foundation to help encourage youth shooting sports programs. In addition, through an annual auction, they will provide funds for the Foundation’s continued support of the development of Outdoor Expos by state and regional organizations such as fish and game or parks and wildlife departments.

The program is designed to be of particular value to older hunters and collectors who want to make sure their appreciation of hunting and firearms is passed on to future generations.

Although this program focuses on gun donations, the Foundation welcomes gifts of cash, securities, real estate or other personal property. Information about participating in the program, including details on how to use gifts for tax deduction purposes, is available by contacting:
