National
Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF)
Funds from Weatherby Foundation International have been used for
NSSF-produced videotapes, teachers manuals and classroom educational
materials distributed each year in thousands of public and private
schools throughout the United States. These videos include The
Un-endangered Species, Wildlife for Tomorrow and
What They Say About Hunting. As a direct result of the
support given by the Foundation, the NSSF has been able to reach millions
of students with a positive message about ethical sport hunting and
wildlife conservation. |

Safari
Club International (SCI) American Wilderness Leadership School
This school, established by SCI, has been in existence for many
years, with the purpose of educating young people. |

4-H Shooting Sports Program
This is one of the largest youth shooting sports programs in the
country, reaching 200,000 kids annually. |

Boy
Scouts of America (BSA)
Through a special matching funds program, the Weatherby Foundation
has made it possible for BSA Councils and troops around the country
to construct or improve camp rifle and shotgun ranges, and to support
shooting merit badge programs. |

Wyoming
Hunting & Fishing Exposition
Started in 1998, this program was developed by the Wyoming Game
& Fish Department. This free event provides an opportunity for
everyoneparticularly young people, the handicapped and womento
be introduced to the myriad of outdoor skill areas associated with
hunting, shooting and fishing. The program wants to send the message
that hunting, shooting and fishing are important to Americas
culture, heritage and wildlands, and are healthy lifelong activities.
In 1999, about 13,000 people attended. |

Texas
Wildlife Expo
Started in 1992, this event is sponsored by Texas Parks and
Wildlife and the Parks and Wildlife Foundation of Texas, Inc. Free
to the public, Texas Wildlife Expo offers activities such as shooting
sports, fishing, kayaking, camping demonstrations, mountain biking
and rock climbing. In 1999, more than 44,000 people attended. Texas
Wildlife Expo provides opportunities for education and involvement
to ensure that todays natural world is passed on to future
generations. |
